I have a dual-screen setup, but it bogs me that whenever I play a 3d game and want to scroll somewhere by touching the edge of the screen with the cursor, it moves to the next screen. The (relatively) impractical solution: Disable one screen while playing. BTW: I'm on Windows XP Answer WMC is an extended version of Warcraft III Mouse Capture. It allows you to lock the mouse within a specified window (not just limited to Warcraft III). The primary use of this program is to have a game (in window mode) on one monitor and applications such as IM and internet browser on another. Without WMC if you move your mouse to the edge of the screen while playing your game, your mouse will just leave the game. You wont be able to aim!

Is it possible to bind a tmux command to a key combination and use it directly without first pressing the prefix? I find C-b + n too cumbersome to switch panes, so I was wondering whether I could bind C-1 for example, to switch to pane #1. Or perhaps there may be a way to make the shortcut in the terminal emulator to send C-b + 1 when I press C-1 ? Thanks! Since yesterday my Windows XP install is stuck on the loading screen (XP logo and "progress bar" constantly moving). I waited more than one hour but nothing more happened. Has anyone successfully deleted the Windows Installer files successfully before? They are taking up 35.1% of my total hard drive space. Which ones are needed and which ones can be purged? In order to see this folder, I had to unhide system files by going to Windows Explorer > Organize (dropdown) > Folder and Search Options > view tab > uncheck ==> Hide protected operating system files (Recommended). I used WinDirStat program to get these percentages. To see the image in full size, open it in a new tab. I was told by someone that you should not delete these files, but then I found a utility--Windows Installer CleanUp Utility (very old version) that deleted these. But it doesn't run on Windows 7. I'm using Windows 8 and since I'm a developer, I need full control over my PC. However, Window 8 doesn't have an straightforward way to disable UAC, and even by dragging the relevant slider to the lowest level, user account won't get administration privilege, which is testable easily by opening a command prompt and not seeing Administrator at the title. However, when you disable UAC through regedit, (now known as EnableLUA hack) you lose Metro Apps. I want to both be the full admin of my account (not administrator user, my own user), and at the same time, I want Metro applications. What should I do?

I am having trouble with figuring out how to change the lookup of my internal website. As I am a software developer not a network specialist so I can't seem to figure out how to go about this or where to start. So here is my issue. I have an internal website and I have it setup on my serer using IIS 8.0. To access this website using a client computer I need to type the server's IP address into the browser address bar. What I am looking to do is change the DNS lookup (I think it is a DNS lookup) so I can type in a name for the site (eg. "operations"). When the user types in operations into the browser it will navigate to my website. Any help is appreciated. I am using Windows Server 2012, Windows 7 64-bit, and Google Chrome.

I have a low power server, with 4 ethernet sockets. It was running Fedora 11, with 3 of the network sockets named eth0, eth1 and eth2 (the final network socket was not in use --- it was eth3 but don't know for sure that it actually worked). I installed Ubuntu Server 10.04 on it this morning. While it was installing, it recognised eth0 and used it to access the internet. Now... it doesn't. It recognises eth1 as being eth1, and claims there is an eth5 somewhere, but doesn't recognise any other interfaces from eth0-eth7. I require 3 working ethernet sockets. I would like my ethernet sockets named eth0-eth3, as they were under Fedora. How do I make that happen? Why have they been renamed in the first place? I am at a hotel, plugged into their network via Ethernet on my MacBook. I want to share the connection via WiFi to two other computers. I went to Prefs > Sharing and set up internet sharing. I know it's working because my friend with a Mac can access the net. My friend with the PC can see the network, but can't connect to it. I noticed that on my Mac, the program Preview allows you annotate PDF documents. If I open up the same PDF file in Adobe Reader on the PC, I can see the annotations in the Comments pane, but I cannot create new ones. I'm guessing that both programs are using some standard defined in PDF documents for annotations. I'm wondering if there is any good utility that is similar to Preview on the Mac, which will allow me to make annotations. Since Preview is free on the Mac, I'm hoping to find a similar free solution for the PC. I noticed on the comparison page of Adobe Acrobat , that the Pro and Pro Extended versions allow you to make a document annotatable by Adobe Reader users. When he bought it, he specifically asked for a graphics card that is able to render some of the latest games. I have a system with a hard drive that has a few bad sectors. I used ddrescue to recover all available sectors on the drive, but the drive continues to develop new bad sectors so I junked it. Two runs by the manufacturer tool indicated DIFFERENT blocks of bad sectors, and two passes with SpinRite both resulted in DIFFERENT unreadable sectors, so the drive is no longer reliable. The partition was on a 500GB drive, but only about 40GB of the partition is used, so I was going to replace the drive with a smaller drive (a 120GB) for now. All I have now is an image produced by ddrescue of the NTFS partition (e.g. /dev/sda1). This file is on my NAS and is a full 500GB in size. My dilemma is that all of the NTFS tools will not operate on the drive at all because there are a couple of inconsistencies due to the unrecovered sectors. Only about six sectors were eventually unrecoverable (only 3K!) but these are still throwing the NTFS filesystem into a fit. Therefore, I can't resize the part...

I need a free (libre) utility for Windows that allows a person to edit an ISO file. The goal is to be able to: Mount the ISO file with the ISO filesystem being readable and writeable. Make changes to files in the ISO filesystem as needed via the utility. Unmount the ISO filesystem with changes being saved to the ISO file. How can I do this? Is there a utility, or do I need to build a toolchain? Answer There is no "free (libre) utility" that does all this. You can use 7-Zip to extract ISO images, WinCDEmu to mount an ISO image and InfraRecorder rebuild and write the ISO image to disc. 7-Zip, WinCDEmu and InfraRecorder are free open source programs (which is pretty much as 'libre' as it gets :). Portable versions of 7-Zip and InfraRecorder are available.

I'm trying to sysprep a Windows 10 machine that has no access to the internet (and cannot be connected to the internet). This seems like it would be an easy task but so far it's been an exercise in frustration. Here's what I've done so far: Ran sysprep. This did not work. It generalized the OS but when I boot back into it, I get an error saying that setup could not be finished an I should reboot and try again. Rebooting and trying again does not change anything. Googled previous error. Found a page saying to bring up a cmd prompt with Shift+F8, go to the oobe folder and manually run msoobe. This works great until I go through the OOBE and then it gets to "Just a moment..." and hangs. Forever. As long as I let it run. Googled THAT issue and apparently the OOBE tries to log into my Microsoft account that I neither have or will be using on this system. I've been trying to extract a series of compressed files - total ~50GiB (uncompressed) - to a hard disk with about 55GiB of free space. Because this is a slow hard drive and with limited capacity, and since the content is highly compressible, I thought it would be a good idea to extract it to a new folder with NTFS compression enabled. Now, as the extraction progresses, if I right-click the folder at any given moment to see its properties, it'll report the correct disk usage (e.g. "size 4.5GiB; size on disk 2.65GiB"). But, if I right-click the drive , the properties window will report a much larger increase reported as "used space" - in fact, a little over than the sum of "size" and "size on disk". And this goes up to the point where the extraction fails because Windows reports the disk is full. I have tested these keyboards on a desktop with an AFOX INTEL G41 (IG41-MA) motherboard , and they worked perfectly fine . I have a tablet, a Surface Pro, and I have a micro SD card that is permanently inserted. I use it to store media files like music and video. Windows, recognizing that it is a removable drive, deletes files immediately instead of putting them into a recycle bin. In addition, applications such as SkyDrive and Dropbox refuse to sync onto the card since it is removable. I know that formatting the micro SD card NTFS, and mounting it as a folder on the C: drive, enables SkyDrive and Dropbox to sync onto the removable drive, but it doesn't affect file deletion. I want to have a script to call with params which adds some aliases to my current shell. The aliases have to be builded in respect to the calling parameters and the current directory from where I start it. If possible I would like to NOT have to source the script, just run it like any other script. This is what I have done until now: I wrote a small shell script to generate some aliases, like echo 'alias foo="$1"' and save it as file "myscript" with +x rights. Then I execute it via console to set the alias $(myscipt hello) that works fine When I change my shell script like echo 'alias foo="bar $1 -param"' and execute again like above, the result is bash: alias hello" not found bash: alias -param" not found ???. But I had to reinstall the OS (Win 7 Pro x64), and, in doing so, I experienced a noticeable slowdown in the benchmarks. Nothing helped- benchmarks were consistently a slower by the same amount than when I got it clean from the factory. I had a Windows 7 installation on my 1TB SSD laptop with 4 primary partitions. I wanted to install Lubuntu Linux but the process failed with an error which kind of said: cannot write MBR It gave me an option to put an MBR somewhere else or to boot without MBR. None of these options worked and it became a useless install. After this failed dual boot attempt, Windows would give a BSOD wit Code 007 ending - translated to inaccessible boot device . That is a huge NTFS partition and I don't think I have any other media to back it up before formatting it. My only option is somehow rebuilding the old MBR. Hence I started creating a whole bunch of live USB boot environments including Super GRUB Disk and MiniTool Partition Editor Live CD, but none of this could ever help me recover my lost MBR. I have just repaired a friends computer (replaced motherboard) and now I am trying to repair the Windows (Windows Vista) partitions. Unfortunately, probably due to the fact that he tried to start it several times after the old motherboard had stopped working (no signal on video) now the partition table or the file systems (or both?) appear to be damaged. I managed to boot Windows a couple of times but could not complete the boot. I tried to repair the partition table and file systems using Linux RIP (booting from USB stick) but the Linux utilities say that the file system is damaged and I should run chkdsk /f from Windows. So I now need a Windows boot CD from which I can boot and run chkdsk or any other Windows utilities that can repair the file system. Is there an easy way to create such a CD?
